3 Business Burglaries and 1 Bomb Threat Solved

On Thursday, August 12, Kingman Police Detectives arrested Shawn Robert Dempsey and
Shane Keith Wright Jr., both 18 of
Kingman, on 3 felony counts of Burglary 3rd Degree. The charges are in connection to burglaries reported on May 31 and August 1 to a skate shop in
the 200blk Andy Devine Ave., a jewelry store in the 4200blk. Stockton Hill Rd., and a convenience store on the corner of Bank St. and Gordon Dr. Both admitted
involvement in the offenses. A third suspect, Steven Michael Bean, 22 of Kingman, is also being sought in connection to these burglaries. Bean is
additionally being sought for the May 31 bomb threat called in to the Wal-Mart store. A warrant for Burglary and False Reporting has been issued for his
arrest. Dempsey and Wright were booked into the Mohave County Jail. Anyone with information of Bean’s whereabouts is urged to contact KPD Detectives at

Arrest made in 9 Vehicle Burglaries

Over the last several weeks the Kingman Police Department has received numerous reports of vehicle burglaries. On August 13, during the
early morning hours, Kingman Police Detectives arrested Andrew Lindsay Miller and Robert Michael Espinoza III, both 18 of Kingman, both charged
with 9 felony counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft.
Espinoza was additional charged with felony counts of Possession of Marijuana and Possession
of Marijuana for Sale. The 9 vehicle burglaries occurred with in the last few weeks within 1 square mile of the Mohave County Fairgrounds. A third and fourth
suspect are still being sought. When Espinoza was arrested he was found to be in possession of marijuana. Miller and Espinoza were booked into the Mohave
County Jail.
Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash

On Thursday, August 12, at about 3:05pm, the Kingman Police Department investigated a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in front of the Kingman
Middle School, 1900blk. Detroit Ave. The investigation determined that a 13 year old boy was on his scooter when he jumped from the sidewalk onto the street
into the path of a 1999 Pontiac van driven by a 65 year old Kingman woman. The front of the van struck the boy, causing minor injuries to his leg. The boy was
transported to KRMC with minor injuries. The 13 year old was cited for crossing outside of the crosswalk. The first day of school had just let out and the
crosswalk was being manned by a crossing guard. The driver was not charged.
Search for Missing Person Successful

On Saturday morning, August 14, at 7:20am, the Kingman Police Department received a report from a woman that her 80y father had not
returned home since the previous night. The 80y was reported to suffer from dementia and other health risks. A “Missing Person Telephone Alert” was issued,
which called telephones in the surrounding area. The Mohave County Search & Rescue Unit was called out to assist in the search. AZ DPS Ranger helicopter had
also responded to assist in the search. With the help of the Mohave County Search and Rescue Unit the missing man was found at about 10:30am, less than a mile
from his home. He had fallen on rocks, was dehydrated, disoriented and in need of emergency medical treatment. He was transported to KRMC for treatment,
listed in stable condition.
Burglary to Vehicle

On Saturday, August 7, at about 8:20am Kingman Police arrested
Steve Morgan Yarbrough, 27 of Kingman, on a felony charge of Vehicle Burglary. Officers arrested
Yarbrough after he was seen inside a vehicle in the 2300blk Airway Ave. It was found that the vehicle did not
belong to Yarbrough. Yarbrough was attempting to steal items from the vehicle. Yarbrough was booked into the
Mohave County Jail.
Child Abuse

On Thursday, August 5, at 1:00pm Kingman Police arrested
Jason Carl Vogt, 29, and Melissa Venna McElrath, 21, both of Kingman, on felony charges of Child
Abuse that occurred in the parking lot of a store in the 3300blk Stockton Hill Rd. Officers responded to the
parking lot of the store after receiving are port of a baby having been left inside a car, unattended.
Officers found a 7 month old infant in a car with the windows
rolled down. The baby was unattended. After 20 minutes the parents, Vogt and McElrath, arrived from out of the
store. The outside temperature was in excess of100 degrees, while the temperature inside the car was in excess
of 110 degrees. Vogt and McElrath were taken into custody after explaining that they had forgotten the baby was
in the car. The baby was transported to KRMC with an elevated body temperature. It was treated and released
into the custody of Child Protective Services. Vogt and McElrath were booked into the Mohave County Jail.
Stabbing Homicide Investigation

The Kingman Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of an 18 year old Kingman man that occurred at a residence in
the 1100blk Topeka St. on Friday night, at about 10:40pm. Emergency 911 operators received the report of an assault victim being seriously hurt and
unresponsive. Officers arrived and found a family member giving CPR to an unresponsive Bryan Lee Prentice, 18. Prentice was transported to KRMC with a stab
wound to his chest where he was pronounced dead. Prentice appears to have been stabbed during a fight involving several people inside the residence. Prentice
lived in the residence with his mother, brother, step father and another 18yoa friend. The following have been arrested for offenses leading up to the death
of Prentice:
17yoa male was cited and released for Minor Consumption of Alcohol. He was released to parents. The 17yoa was a friend of the
family.
Michael A. Ruble, 18 of Kingman, was arrested and booked into jail, charged with misdemeanor Minor Consumption of Alcohol.
Ruble, a family friend, was living in the home.
Mario John Piccinini, 27 of Kingman, was arrested and booked into jail for misdemeanor Providing Liquor to Minors, as it is
alleged that he brought the alcohol to the residence. Piccinini was a friend and neighbor.
Stephen Paul Parker, 51 of Kingman, was arrested and booked into jail, charged with misdemeanor Contributing to Delinquency of a
Minor, in that he was in control of the residence and is alleged to have been allowing the 17yoa to drink alcohol. Parker is the stepfather of the victim.
Also in the home were the victim’s mother and older brother. The investigation continues. An arrest has not been made in
connection to Prentice’s death.
Attempted Murder – Domestic Violence

On Wednesday, July 28, at 10:30pm, Kingman Police Detectives arrested Christopher Michael Janes, 48 of Kingman, on felony charges of Attempted
Murder-Domestic Violence and Misconduct Involving Weapons-Domestic Violence.
At 9:30pm, officers responded to a residence in the 300blk Grandview Ave. in
downtown Kingman regarding stabbing victim. Officers found a 52 year old Kingman woman had driven herself to this address after apparently being stabbed in the
chest. She was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition. During treatment it was found that the victim had in
fact been stabbed in her side with the blade exiting her chest.
Detectives determined that the stabbing occurred during a fight between the woman and her
husband, Christopher Janes. The location of the stabbing was uncertain until Friday morning when detectives served a search warrant at the couple’s home in the
1600blk John L Ave. During the service of the search warrant detectives located a large amount of blood along with a Samurai sword. It was determined that
this sword was used by Janes to stab the victim while in the home. The couple’s young son was also in the home during the stabbing. Janes was initially
booked into jail on charges of Domestic Violence-Disorderly Conduct, however was later charged with Attempted Murder and Weapons Misconduct. The victim was
listed in critical but stable condition at KRMC. Alcohol was involved.
Aggravated Assault & Criminal Damage

On Friday, July 23, at about 11:30pm, Kingman Police arrested Orin Rhoads Cunningham, 26 of Golden Valley, on felony charges of Aggravated Assault and
Aggravated Criminal Damage. Officers had responded to a disturbance at a home in the 500blk Riata Valley Rd. where it was reported that Cunningham had gotten
into a fight with another subject, during which time Cunningham crashed his vehicle into a parked vehicle and almost ran over another person. Cunningham
left before officers arrived and was later located by MCSO at his home in Golden Valley. Cunningham was booked into the Mohave County Jail. Alcohol was
involved.
Dangerous Drugs

On Saturday, July 24, at 3:00pm Kingman Police arrested Robert James Causer, 25 of Kingman, on felony charges of Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of
Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Officers contacted Causer in the 800blk E. Andy Devine Ave. in regards to another investigation. During this
time Causer was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and the associated drug paraphernalia. Causer was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
Dangerous Drugs

On Sunday, July 25, at 3:15am Kingman Police arrested Ivan N. Kenyon, 24 of Kingman, on felony charges of Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of
Drug Paraphernalia. An officer contacted Kenyon on Kenwood Ave. During this contact Kenyon was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug
paraphernalia. Kenyon was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
Felony Warrant Arrest

On Tuesday, July 20, at 6:40pm, Kingman Police arrested John Lynn Haney, 48 of Kingman, on a felony warrant for Parole Violation issued out of AZ Department
of Corrections. Haney was contacted in the 2300blk Airway Ave. and taken into custody on his warrant. He was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
Felony Warrant Arrest

On Wednesday, July 21, at about 7:50am, Kingman Police arrested
Johnathan Chris Coulan, 21 of Kingman, at a residence in the 2600blk. Phoenix Ave., on a
felony warrant out of MCSO for Probation Violation on an original charge of Burglary and a misdemeanor warrant out of KPD for Shoplifting.
Officers responded
to the area after receiving reports of a subject jumping fences, possibly involved in burglary. It was found that Coulan had jumped a fence to his residence,
and upon officer’s arrival at 6:15am, Coulan barricaded himself in the attic of the home. Coulan ultimately came out of the attic on his own, at 7:50am, and
was taken into custody.
Coulan was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of heat related stress before he was booked into the Mohave
County Jail. Coulan is also facing misdemeanor assault charges for a Domestic Violence incident the previous night.
