Multiple thefts and vehicle Burglaries being reported in Kingman
Publish Date: 12/19/2011 Source: KPD
Over the last few weeks the Kingman Police Department has seen a significant increase in reports of vehicles being burglarized. Most of these burglaries are occurring during the night time and early morning hours. Most of the victim’s vehicles had been left
unattended and unlocked with valuables inside. Thieves are walking up and down residential streets checking for unlocked car doors. You can reduce your chances of being a victim of theft by simply removing all valuables from your vehicle and locking doors.
The use of outside residential lighting is also recommended as a deterrent. Vehicles that are being warmed up in residential driveways or parking lots of convenience stores are easy targets for burglars and thieves. It is recommended that drivers stay in
their vehicles while the engine is running. At minimum precaution, cars should be kept locked at all times. The KPD would like to remind everyone that most of these crimes are “Crimes of Opportunity”; which means that thieves are looking for any opportunity
to steal. This opportunity combined with the tough economy and the holiday season is a convenient excuse for thieves and other criminals to victimize our community. Anyone who sees suspicious behavior is urged to contact the Kingman Police Department.
